    • Hello Senior Parents,

      Today, the administrative team, Officer McElroy and the class and graduation advisors ran a senior class assembly.  Here is a link to the presentation:  Senior Presentation .   
       
      A primary objective for our meeting was to emphasize how the upcoming weeks will be a lot of fun for our soon to be graduates, and we want to make sure they stay safe and smart.  As we head into their last day of formal classes, please continue to have conversations with your students around making smart decisions throughout the coming celebrations (in and outside of our school events).  
       
      Here is a message from Marshall Simons reminding us of our responsibility to support a fun and safe experience for our students.  Also here is a link to the Essex District Attorney's Prom and Graduation Safety site along with the Essex County flyer emphasizing social host laws.

      • MAY 19-22: MANDATORY PARENT SENIOR WEEK SIGN-OFF (see below for more information)

      • Graduation Car Parade Information - Each graduate will receive a gift, compliments from the NEF, during the parade.  Also to add to the fun of the morning, the NEF Board of Directors will sponsor a Graduation Day Parking space for the most creative car decorations. 

      MAY 19-22: MANDATORY PARENT SENIOR WEEK SIGN-OFF + MEMORABILIA

      For a senior to participate in senior week activities, parents/guardians need to sign-off that they have reviewed and received the senior expectations during senior week. This document makes parents aware of how seniors can lose the privilege of being at graduation if they violate any of the behavioral expectations*. When parents come to the school to sign this form, they will also pick-up their 3 Memorabilia Graduation Invitations. 

      *If obligations are still due when parents come in to sign the form, the obligations can be settled at this point.

      reminder- Today there is an Art Honor Society meeting right after school in room 045A- all members should plan on attending. 

      Good morning! Come hear the chorus, orchestra, band, and Bobby's rock band on Tuesday night, at 7PM in our own auditorium. You'll see and hear your own friends, classmates, and perhaps your students presenting their best musical selves in the final staged concert of the year. And don't miss the senior tribute to the tune of My Way. See you there!

       

      Poetry Soup will take place this Wednesday night at 7:15 in room 118. Our guest speaker will be Salem State Professor January Gill O'Neil.

       

      Everyone is welcome to attend. 

       

      Join the Newburyport High School Softball team on May 17th to help support runway for recovery, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families affected by breast cancer, with a homerun derby at Pioneer Park. The high school division competes from 3:45 to 4:45. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. All are welcome and encouraged to attend."

    • Wednesday, April 30                                      Day 2

       

      Hello clippers, our environment and health are in danger and we need your help. The environmental club is holding a poster competition for anyone interested, on the effect of micro plastics on our bodies. There is a total of $100 in prize money just for you. For details and a sign up. Please scan the QR code on THE LIGHT BLUE posters around the school.

      Any junior interested in participating in the arch of roses at graduation, please see Mrs. Haas in room 210 for more information and to sign up.

      Mission Sox’s third annual sock drive begins today!! From now until May 4th, please donate new socks in any color, size, or style to the collection boxes placed in the cafeteria, front lobby, and library. Reach out to Isla DeVivo with questions and follow instagram @missionsox for updates.

    • Tuesday, April 8                              Day 3

       

      Today is the last day to check out the Travel Photography Exhibit in room 118.  It will come down at the end of school.

       The Investment Club is now accepting applications for leadership roles for next year! Open positions include President, Vice President, Portfolio Group (one representative per grade), and Secretary/Social Media.

       Interested students should prepare a short (30 seconds to 1 minute) presentation on why they’d be a good fit for their desired role. Presentations will take place tomorrow, Tuesday from 2:45 PM – 3:30 PM in the College and Career Center.  If a student is unable to attend but still wants to be involved, they can reach out to Collin Fuller or Emerson McCormick for more details.

(The following stats are from a survey published by WalletHub) In the fourth quarter of 2024, US credit card debt reached a record $1.21 trillion, with an average credit card balance of around $6,580 per household, highlighting a significant increase from previous years.

      Tonight is the Annual NHS College & Career Fair from 6pm-7:30pm in the NHS gym. At this time we have over 100 colleges, universities, and community partner organizations registered.  Please check your email for the link to register and for the list of updated colleges and community partners attending the fair. We look forward to you joining us tonight!   

       

      The Travel Photography Exhibit featuring images by students, faculty and administrators is up in room 118 but only for one week! Make sure to check it out!!!

      Attention Ninth Grade Students!

       

      Tomorrow and Wednesday you will be cycling through three class rotations, including the library (which includes the SBIRT screening), the college and career center, and the gym. These rotations will happen from 8:15-11:10, while the tenth grade students complete the MCAS. Your class rotation will be assigned by your last name. Please check your student email this morning for a message from Ms. Gee of where you should be going tomorrow and Wednesday morning. 

      These assignments will also be available at the main entrance on the whiteboard, the cafeteria, the student support suite, and outside the library. Please reach out to your school counselor if you have any questions.

       

      All Sophomores should meet in the cafeteria tomorrow morning before heading to MCAS rooms.

       

      A project run by students called "Mission sox" is kicking off on March 30th with their first sock drive. Please bring in new socks in any size, color, or style and drop them off in the collection boxes which will be located in the main office, library, class officer's classrooms, as well as throughout the city. These will be donated to local homeless shelters. Follow the Instagram which is @missionsox to stay updated on the drive and don't forget to bring in socks from March 30th - May 1st! 



      the class of 2024 will be having a fundraiser at Flatbreads in Amesbury tomorrow, Tuesday 3/28. 

       

      Support the Interact Club with their upcoming personal care drive, for the making it personal program!

       

      Labeled bins will be in the cafeteria and outside the front office!

      Items include

      - soap

      - deodorant

      - shampoo/conditioners

      - toothbrushes and toothpaste

       

      The bins will be there until April 1st, thank you for your help!
