Sweet Paws Rescue Internship Programs
Development and Education internship: 2 available, 8 weeks, 4 to 8 hours per week; this is a hybrid opportunity with 2–4 hours per week in person either at our facility or at a local event- Support the Development team by performing online research, spreadsheet management, and analysis in support of sweet paws efforts to win grant funding and increase donations to support operations and special projects.
- Work with the Junior Rescue team to research and propose a design for a curriculum that will offer hands-on activities and education for elementary and middle school students and their families.
Marketing and Rescue Operations internship: 2 available, 8 weeks, 4 to 8 hours per week; this is a hybrid opportunity with 2–4 hours per week in person either at our facility or at local events.- Assist with fundraising programs, event planning, and development of marketing materials. Build skills in content creation, social media management, graphic design, and website design and edits.
- Learn about the behind the scenes work required to run an Animal Rescue including maintaining our animal care facility, transporting and caring for animals, and interacting with local Animal Control Officers, vets, and adopters.

100% Virtual and PAID Internships!!! - Work-Based Learning Alliance
You've Got Goals, We've Got Internships! Work-Based Learning Alliance - Who We Are: At the Work-Based Learning Alliance we want to help you discover your passions while developing your skills and understanding of the future career options available to you. We are a nonprofit whose focus is on providing career-connected learning experiences to high schoolers across the country. Our role is to ensure all students are fairly paid, have a safe virtual working environment and are supported throughout their internships.
When do the internships start? Work-Based Learning Alliance has 10-, 6-, and 4- week internship options available. Work with your school to determine which option is best for you based on your course load and additional activities. Internships start in September.
How will I be paid? Work-Based Learning Alliance will pay interns $1500 over the course of the 100 hour internship. The pay schedule will vary based on the length of the internship.
You will complete 100 hours of work virtually over the course of your internship. Your exact schedule will vary based on the length of your internship, your industry mentor's availability, and your school's scheduling preferences. You will work with a team of interns, some of whom may be from other schools. You will spend your time working on a project that you and your teammates will ultimately present to your industry sponsor. Your internship will be spent conducting research on your project, working with your team on your final deliverable, and meeting with your industry sponsor.Talk with your family and school about which internship start dates will work best for you.Get your consent form signed and then keep an eye out for an email from the Work-Based Learning Alliance. This email will share key dates and next steps. -

Academic Obligations

- Weekly Journal - Maintain a weekly journal indicating tasks, personal relationships, problems, and reflections. Submit to your teacher for review through Google classroom at the end of the semester.
- Weekly Timelog - A weekly time log must be kept on Google sheets and shared with the Internship Coordinator and your site supervisor. Submit to your teacher for review at the end of the semester.
- Capstone Project – This will be a project that you will work on throughout your internship and at the end you will be required to present .

Overview

Eligible students participate in the Internship Program at either the beginning or the end of each academic school day (A-block or G-block).
A limited number of NHS in-school internships are available but must be approved prior to the beginning of each semester by the Internship Coordinator.
Students provide their own transportation to and from the internship location as needed.
Students choose and obtain their own internship. Students are welcome to find an internship site on their own or work with the program coordinator.
Eligibility

Student who...
- Are in good academic and behavioral standing
- Are on track to graduate in June of their senior year.
- Submitted the Internship Application, Policies and Consent Form to Mr. Smith before the start of the next semester. For the fall/winter semester prior to May 31st and for the winter/spring semester prior to December 22nd.
Grading

The internship course is unweighted.
All students will be graded on a Pass/Fail basis. Successful completion of all requirements will earn students 2.5 credits.
Any student not enrolled in the Internship Seminar course requesting 2.5 credits for internship hours they have done on their own throughout high school will be required to provide documentation of a minimum of 75 hours of service along with: a weekly journal documenting the hours, a signed timelog from their site supervisor, and a Capstone Project.
